Did Not Attend CIC
Safeguarding-led engagement support to reduce missed appointments and prevent people falling through the cracks.
What we do
We support services to respond to “Did Not Attend” as a meaningful signal — not simply non-compliance. Our model focuses on practical barriers, welfare concerns, and safe re-engagement, working alongside existing statutory and voluntary services.
- Safeguarding-led contact and engagement attempts (within agreed boundaries)
- Barrier-focused support (e.g., reminders, planning, practical problem-solving)
- Risk-aware escalation pathways where concerns are identified
- Clear records and reporting back to the referring service
What we don’t do
We are not a replacement for clinical care or statutory duties.
- No clinical diagnosis or treatment
- No emergency response / crisis intervention
- No acting beyond scope or without agreed referral pathway
- We escalate safeguarding concerns to the appropriate agencies
How it works (pilot-ready)
1) Referral + consent
Agreed criteria, consent/legitimate basis, information sharing boundaries.
2) Engagement attempt
Trauma-informed contact, barrier checks, welfare indicators.
3) Support + signposting
Practical support and signposting (non-clinical).
4) Report + escalation
Feedback to referrer; safeguarding escalation if needed.
Safeguarding (our core principle)
Safeguarding is central to DNA’s identity. We operate with clear thresholds, escalation routes, and robust recording. Our aim is to meet an “Ofsted-standard” mindset even where not legally required: safe practice, strong boundaries, clear accountability.
Concern identified? We follow a defined escalation pathway and share information appropriately with the relevant statutory services.

For NHS partners (commissioning / pilot enquiries)
We support NHS services to reduce missed appointments and improve continuity of care by treating non-attendance as a potential safeguarding and access signal. We can pilot with defined cohorts, outcomes, reporting, and governance.
- Pilot design with referral criteria, contact attempt rules, and reporting cadence
- Information sharing approach (DPA/GDPR aligned), documentation, audit trail
- Safeguarding escalation framework aligned to local partnership expectations
- Outcome reporting: engagement rates, DNA reduction signals, learning themes
